The Lead Mechanical Designer is a senior member of the project team, providing design and project management support under the Associate. This role involves creating high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts, performing surveys, calculations, selections, and layouts, and requires a deep understanding of the project lifecycle, design, and filing standards.

Responsibilities

Create high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts based on company design principles.
Perform surveys, calculations, selections, and layouts.
Lead communication with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients, and stakeholders.
Provide support in construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, performing field observations, and preparing reports.
Independently design HVAC systems using company standards and templates.
Represent the organization at project meetings.
Perform load calculations and review results without supervision.
Develop mechanical room/system designs and select advanced equipment under guidance.
Understand codes and standards; research as needed.
Generate specifications and write sequences of operations for HVAC systems.
Review shop drawings and compare field installations to designs.
Mentor junior team members.

Essential Skills

7-10 years of professional experience.
Bachelors degree in Engineering.
Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

EIT or PE certification is advantageous.
Strong organizational skills.
Professional communication skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
