Job Description

The Lead Mechanical Designer is a senior member of the project team, providing design and project management support under the Associate. This role involves creating high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts, performing surveys, calculations, selections, and layouts, and requires a deep understanding of the project lifecycle, design, and filing standards.

Responsibilities

+ Create high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts based on company design principles.

+ Perform surveys, calculations, selections, and layouts.

+ Lead communication with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients, and stakeholders.

+ Provide support in construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, performing field observations, and preparing reports.

+ Independently design HVAC systems using company standards and templates.

+ Represent the organization at project meetings.

+ Perform load calculations and review results without supervision.

+ Develop mechanical room/system designs and select advanced equipment under guidance.

+ Understand codes and standards; research as needed.

+ Generate specifications and write sequences of operations for HVAC systems.

+ Review shop drawings and compare field installations to designs.

+ Mentor junior team members.

Essential Skills

+ 7-10 years of professional experience.

+ Bachelors degree in Engineering.

+ Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD.

+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

+ Highly organized with excellent time management skills.

+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.

+ Strong attention to detail.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ EIT or PE certification is advantageous.

+ Strong organizational skills.

+ Professional communication skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
