Civil Design Technician - Municipal Services

What Jobs Direct is seeking a proficient Civil Design Technician with a focus on Municipal Services to join our team in Benoni, Gauteng
. You will play a crucial role in the detailed design and drafting of municipal infrastructure, including water, sanitation, stormwater, and roadworks projects. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to balance remote work with essential on-site collaboration and project coordination in Benoni
. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using CAD software and possess a strong understanding of municipal engineering principles. You will support senior engineers in delivering high-quality designs for public infrastructure that enhances community living.

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, and sections for municipal services using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Assist senior engineers in the design of water distribution networks, sewer systems, and stormwater drainage.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Perform basic engineering calculations under the supervision of a registered engineer.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant municipal standards, by-laws, and SANS codes.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to resolve design issues.
• Maintain accurate and organized drawing registers and project documentation.
• Conduct site visits as required for data collection and verification, supporting the hybrid work model.
• Assist in the preparation of project reports and specifications.

• National Diploma or
  
  B.Tech in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Civil Design Technician or Draughtsperson in municipal infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is mandatory.
• Basic understanding of water, sanitation, stormwater, and road design principles.
• Familiarity with South African municipal standards and relevant SANS codes.
• Good drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to a hybrid work environment.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in Benoni
