Remote MEP Design Engineer - Sustainable Buildings

They are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote MEP Design Engineer to contribute to their groundbreaking projects across the globe. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to leverage your expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design from your chosen location. You will be responsible for designing energy-efficient and environmentally conscious MEP systems for a variety of building typologies.

This role requires a strong understanding of sustainable design principles, advanced modeling techniques, and the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams in a virtual environment. You will play a key role in shaping the future of green buildings and contributing to a more sustainable built environment. We are looking for a creative problem-solver passionate about integrating sustainability into MEP design.

Design and develop innovative MEP systems for sustainable building projects, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing services. Utilize BIM software (e.g., Revit MEP) to create detailed 3D models and coordinated drawings. Perform load calculations, energy analysis, and system simulations to optimize performance and sustainability. Specify energy-efficient equipment and renewable energy integration solutions. Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, energy standards (e.g., SANS, ASHRAE), and environmental regulations.

Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders in a remote setting. Conduct virtual design reviews and provide technical guidance to project teams. Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and construction administration support. Research and evaluate new sustainable technologies and materials for MEP applications. Assist in the tendering process and provide support during construction phases. Contribute to the development of best practices in sustainable MEP design.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration or equivalent is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in MEP design, with a strong focus on sustainable building projects.
• Proficiency in MEP design software, including Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and energy modeling tools (e.g., IES VE, eQUEST).
• Solid understanding of sustainable design principles, LEED, or Green Star rating systems.
• Excellent knowledge of HVAC, electrical power distribution, lighting design, and plumbing systems.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective virtual collaboration.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex building codes and standards.
