Senior Civil Engineer - Roads and Transport

Our client, a dynamic civil engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in roads and transport infrastructure to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape
. This position is central to the design, planning, and project management of key road networks and transportation facilities within the region. You will be responsible for leading projects from conception through to construction, ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and client requirements. • Lead the design, planning, and construction supervision of road and transport infrastructure projects, including highways, rural roads, intersections, and associated drainage systems.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, and construction drawings using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Pavement Management Systems).
• Conduct traffic impact studies, feasibility assessments, and geometric design for road networks.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery.
• Liaise with clients, provincial and municipal authorities, and other stakeholders to secure approvals and maintain project momentum.
• Oversee construction phase activities, providing technical guidance and ensuring quality control.
• Mentor and guide junior civil engineers and technicians involved in roads and transport projects.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, tender documentation, and project proposals.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS), geometric standards, and environmental regulations.
• Contribute to the selection and application of appropriate road materials and construction techniques.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in transportation or road engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and project management of road and transport infrastructure.
• Proficiency in road design software (e.g., Civil 3D) and traffic analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of pavement design, materials, and construction methods.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including budget and schedule control.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Experience with bridge design or traffic management systems is an advantage.
