PLAN Reviewer - Range​/Amea

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Under direction of Supervisor, manage building and the land use projects from application to Certificate of Occupancy issuance; answer technical code questions; make engineering value judgements; manage retrofit building and fire rehab application approvals; review small project specifications for adherence to submittal requirements; receive, monitor and resolve customer complaints; coordinate plan reviews and approvals with appropriate staff; and manage coverage of the ACD (Automatic Call Distributor) telephone system.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and four (4) years of technical experience in engineering, permitting, plan review, surveying, computer assisted design, drafting, project management or a related field.

Associate’s degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Drafting, Statistics, Logistics, or similar discipline, and two (2) years of technical experience in engineering, permitting, plan review, surveying, computer assisted design, drafting, project management or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Drafting, Statistics, Logistics, or similar discipline,
andtechnical experience in engineering, permitting, plan review, surveying, computer assisted design, drafting, project management or a related field.

• Valid State of Alaska Driver's License

• Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
