Job Description & How to Apply Below
Take your simulation skills beyond academia and into exciting industry challenges

This Cambridge based technical team provide expertise in simulation and modelling to industrial and academic groups, helping to solve real-world challenges. They have backgrounds in a wide variety of physics and engineering disciplines from optics and fluid dynamics to structural mechanics and chemical engineering.

The team are looking to recruit someone to become an electromagnetics specialist and will consider Master’s and PhD holders for the role (candidates with relevant industry experience will also be considered). You will work on projects in fields such as power transmission, medical therapies, and navigation electronics. Alongside direct simulation work you will lead workshops and training sessions as well as providing technical presentations and commercial support.

Fundamental knowledge is important as problems can vary greatly, but knowledge of electric motor simulation would be valued.

Requirements

* 1st or 2.1 degree in computational physics, engineering mathematics or applied electronics. Master’s or PhD qualification in a relevant subject area. Additional postdoc or industry experience would be beneficial.

* Excellent fundamental understanding around electromagnetic principles. Ideally, this can be demonstrated through teaching or tutoring of university-level students.

* Experience with computational simulation / modelling tools (MATLAB, COMSOL, SIMULIA, Simcenter, Octave, etc).

* Good communication skills (this is a client-facing role, and so being comfortable presenting and discussing technical details is important).

* Full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK (no company sponsorship is on offer).

The role is based at their Cambridge offices. Hybrid working is possible after the first month (possibly up to 3 days per week working from home). Compensation on offer is competitive and includes a range of benefits. The company provides technical training where needed and provides an excellent environment to help transition from academia to industry. Interested applicants do need to have unrestricted rights to work in the UK.

Graduate visa holders or those requiring sponsorship will not be considered.
