Senior Solar PV Design Engineer

Our client, a prominent force in the renewable Energy sector, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is crucial for the conceptualization, design, and technical oversight of utility-scale and commercial solar photovoltaic projects. • Lead the electrical and mechanical design of solar PV systems, including site layout, module selection, inverters, and mounting structures.
• Develop detailed design documents, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and structural plans.
• Perform energy yield assessments and system performance simulations using industry-standard software.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct technical due diligence for potential solar projects and provide recommendations.
• Optimize system designs for maximum energy production, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
• Stay updated on the latest solar PV technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Mentor and guide junior design engineers and drafters.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design of solar PV systems, with a focus on utility-scale or large commercial projects within the Energy industry.
• Proven expertise in using solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and relevant simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, grid interconnection requirements, and power electronics.
• Knowledge of structural considerations for solar installations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience with project life cycles from development through to commissioning.
• Familiarity with South African regulations and grid codes is advantageous.
