Implementation Engineer (Full Time, Contract;Remote)

Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking an Implementation Engineer to support network testing, grooming, implementation, and decommissioning within legacy telecommunications environments. This role focuses heavily on testing SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet transport equipment, performing circuit grooming and migrations, inserting or removing network nodes to maintain ring connectivity, and decommissioning outdated network infrastructure. The Implementation Engineer will work hands-on with legacy transport platforms, execute network implementation plans, process circuit disconnect orders, and identify potential technical issues or service disruptions before making changes.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on telecommunications testing experience, expertise in SONET/DWDM technologies, familiarity with legacy network systems, and the ability to independently execute network changes while ensuring service reliability and minimizing disruptions.

Responsibilities
:

• Perform hands-on testing and validation of SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet network equipment to ensure proper functionality and connectivity.
• Execute network grooming activities, including circuit migrations, rearrangements, and optimization of existing transport networks.
• Insert, remove, and reconfigure network nodes to maintain, restore, or improve SONET ring connectivity.
• Decommission legacy telecommunications equipment, ensuring circuits and services are properly disconnected or migrated.
• Review and execute network implementation plans, identifying potential issues or service disruptions before making changes.
• Process circuit disconnect orders and update network records using legacy telecommunications systems.
• Support equipment installations, network upgrades, and knowledge transfer to other implementation teams.

• 5+ years of hands-on telecommunications network testing experience, preferably with SONET, DWDM, and Ethernet transport equipment.
• Experience performing network grooming, including circuit rearrangements, migrations, and optimization of existing transport networks.
• Hands-on SONET/DWDM experience, including working with legacy optical transport equipment, network rings, and circuit connectivity.
• Experience decommissioning legacy telecommunications equipment, including circuit disconnects, equipment removal, and service migrations.
• Experience executing network implementation plans, with the ability to identify potential errors, service disruptions, or technical risks before implementation.
• Experience inserting, removing, and reconfiguring network nodes, particularly within SONET ring architectures to maintain or restore connectivity.
• Experience working with legacy telecom systems and environments.
