Remote Senior Field Applications Engineer

Our client, a prestigious multinational corporation specializing in advanced industrial automation components and solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Field Applications Engineer. This is a critical, fully remote role serving clients primarily in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region, but allowing you to operate from anywhere in South Africa. You will act as a key technical liaison between our clients and our engineering teams, providing expert pre-sales and post-sales support.

Your responsibilities will include understanding client application requirements, recommending optimal product solutions, assisting with system integration, and troubleshooting complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate possesses a deep technical understanding of automation technologies, excellent customer-facing skills, and a proven ability to solve intricate engineering problems. This role requires significant autonomy, excellent remote collaboration capabilities, and a passion for driving technological adoption and ensuring customer success.

You will be instrumental in shaping how clients leverage our client's innovative technologies to enhance their operational efficiency and product quality.

• Provide expert technical consultation and support to clients regarding automation solutions and product integration.
• Analyze client application requirements and propose tailored technical solutions using our client's product portfolio.
• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and feasibility studies for prospective and existing clients.
• Assist clients with system design, configuration, and integration of automation components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues encountered during product implementation or operation.
• Collaborate closely with sales teams to develop winning proposals and technical strategies.
• Develop and deliver technical training to clients and internal sales/support teams.
• Gather and relay customer feedback to product development teams to inform future innovations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
• Document technical discussions, solutions, and customer feedback accurately.

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a Field Applications Engineering, Technical Support, or similar client-facing engineering role within the industrial automation sector.
• Extensive knowledge of industrial automation components, including PLCs, drives, sensors, HMIs, and robotics.
• Proven ability to understand and analyze complex application requirements.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to build rapport with clients.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote setting.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for critical client needs (if required).
• Fluency in English; proficiency in other relevant languages is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and smart manufacturing.
