About the Role Our client, a prominent force in the aerospace industry, is actively searching for a Senior Aerospace Propulsion Engineer to join their innovative team in Welkom, Free State
. This critical role focuses on the design, development, testing, and performance analysis of advanced aircraft propulsion systems. You will play a key part in the lifecycle of propulsion systems, from conceptual design through to flight testing and operational support. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a passion for cutting-edge propulsion technology and a commitment to excellence.

• Lead the design and development of new aircraft engine components and systems, focusing on performance, efficiency, and durability.
• Conduct detailed performance analysis, thermodynamic calculations, and simulations of propulsion systems.
• Oversee and execute engine testing procedures, including ground and flight testing, and analyze test data to validate design performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, structures, and materials engineers, to ensure integrated system design.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications, design documentation, and test reports for propulsion systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to engine operation, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical development of the propulsion engineering team.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies in aerospace propulsion to identify opportunities for innovation.
• Support the manufacturing and assembly processes to ensure product quality and adherence to design intent.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in propulsion.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aerospace propulsion system design, development, or analysis.
• Proven expertise in gas turbine engine principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with propulsion system simulation tools (e.g., NPSS, APIS), CFD, and FEA software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead technical initiatives.
• Familiarity with aircraft engine testing methodologies and data acquisition systems.
• Knowledge of aviation regulations related to engine certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python or MATLAB for data analysis and scripting is desirable.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa and willing to work a hybrid schedule in Welkom, Free State
