Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Aerodynamics Engineer | $120/hr | Remote

We are seeking experienced Aerodynamics Engineers, CFD Specialists, Fluid Dynamics Researchers, and Aerospace or Mechanical Engineers to contribute to a remote AI training project focused on computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamic analysis, engineering simulation, and Python-based workflows.

You will create, solve, review, and validate technically rigorous engineering tasks that can be executed through programmatic or command-line-based tools. The work may involve preparing CFD cases, generating meshes, defining boundary conditions, running simulations, calculating aerodynamic coefficients, and determining whether results are numerically converged and physically realistic.

What You’ll Do
  • Solve and validate aerodynamic, fluid mechanics, and CFD problems.
  • Translate physical engineering requirements into mathematical models and solver-ready simulation cases.
  • Create or modify airfoils, geometries, computational domains, and meshes.
  • Define appropriate initial conditions, boundary conditions, fluid properties, and numerical solver settings.
  • Run CFD and aerodynamic analysis workflows using command-line or scriptable engineering tools.
  • Calculate and interpret lift, drag, pressure distributions, velocity fields, aerodynamic coefficients, and other relevant quantities.
  • Use Python to automate preprocessing, simulation execution, parameter sweeps, postprocessing, and validation.
  • Diagnose non-convergence, unstable solutions, mesh problems, incorrect boundary conditions, and physically unrealistic outputs.
  • Review engineering solutions and identify incorrect assumptions or numerical methodology.
  • Develop reproducible reference solutions and clearly document engineering reasoning.

Requirements
  • MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with specialization in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, thermofluids, or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and applied aerodynamics.
  • Hands‑on experience formulating and executing CFD or aerodynamic analyses.
  • Practical proficiency with Python.
  • Experience with at least one scriptable, CLI‑accessible, or programmatically controlled engineering tool.
  • Ability to select and justify modeling assumptions, boundary conditions, mesh strategies, and solver settings.
  • Ability to diagnose non‑convergence, numerical instability, incorrect results, and physically invalid outputs.
  • Strong technical communication and engineering reasoning skills.
Preferred Background
  • Professional or research experience in CFD, aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, or aerospace simulation.
  • Experience with OpenFOAM, SU2, Gmsh, FEniCSx, Elmer, CalculiX, or comparable engineering tools.
  • Experience with Python, Num Py, Sci Py, pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter, or…
