Senior Process Safety Engineer; Remote

Our client, a global leader in chemical and petrochemical operations, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their esteemed team in a fully remote capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and conducting comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHAs), developing and implementing safety management systems, and providing expert guidance on inherent safety design.

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies, for new and existing chemical processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with international standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce process-related risks to acceptable levels.
• Provide expert technical guidance on inherent safety design principles and practices.
• Review process designs, operating procedures, and management of change (MOC) documentation for safety implications.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to engineers, operators, and other personnel.
• Stay current with evolving process safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with facility engineers and management teams to ensure effective implementation of safety initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of company safety standards and procedures.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industries.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading and facilitating PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA).
• In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Strong understanding of inherent safety design, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote work environment.
• Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CCPSC (Certified Chemical Process Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
