HVAC Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a prominent building services engineering firm, is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Engineer to contribute to their projects in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga
. This role involves the design, specification, and project management of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for a diverse range of commercial and industrial buildings. You will work closely with architects, clients, and other engineers to ensure efficient, sustainable, and compliant HVAC solutions. • Design and specify HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings.
• Prepare detailed calculations for heating/cooling loads, duct sizing, and pipe sizing.
• Produce technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
• Select appropriate HVAC equipment, such as chillers, boilers, air handling units, and pumps.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and monitor installation progress.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards (e.g., SANS), and energy efficiency regulations.
• Collaborate with project teams, including architects, electrical engineers, and project managers.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase and assist with commissioning.
• Contribute to the development of sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC solutions.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HVAC design.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, HAP).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
• Knowledge of building codes, energy efficiency standards, and sustainable design practices.
• Experience with project coordination and site supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, balancing office and remote tasks.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga for office-based work.
• Professional registration (e.g., ECSA) is an advantage.
