Remote Industrial Automation Specialist

This position is fully remote, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting automation solutions for a diverse range of industrial clients. This includes working with PLCs, SCADA systems, robotics, and IoT devices to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.

• Design, program, and commission industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
• Develop solutions for integrating various automated equipment, sensors, and control systems.
• Provide remote technical support, troubleshooting, and diagnostics for automation systems in operation.
• Collaborate with clients and project managers to understand automation requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Ensure automation designs comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and client specifications.
• Conduct remote performance analysis and optimization of existing automation setups.
• Research and evaluate emerging automation technologies for potential implementation.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation projects.
• Participate in virtual project meetings and client consultations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation design tools and methodologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in programming logic controllers (PLCs) from major manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI software development and configuration.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ether Net/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with robotics programming and integration is a strong asset.
• Experience with IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) concepts and platforms is beneficial.
• Excellent remote problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
