Position: CAD Designer (Sales)

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture between Worthington Enterprises Inc. and Armstrong World Industries Inc., has established worldwide leadership in the production of suspended ceiling systems sold under the Armstrong brand name. Founded in 1992, WAVE operates under a long-standing corporate philosophy rooted in the Golden Rule, combining the world-class culture of both parents. These core values continue to emphasize and fortify an unwavering commitment to our customers, suppliers, and shareholders.

WAVE provides total ceiling solutions that create distinct and innovative visuals in both commercial and residential spaces, reducing installation time and cost, and supporting customer collaboration to meet project management demands. We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Designer to support the Containment (Data Center) business segment by developing custom design solutions, producing quote and fabrication drawings, and providing technical design support throughout the sales process.

This role partners with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customers to transform project requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs while improving workflow efficiency through modern CAD and AI-enabled tools. The Designer plays a key role in supporting profitable growth by delivering high-quality drawings, custom solutions, and continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create quote drawings and technical layouts using Solid Works, Drive Works, Microsoft Visio, and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop fabrication drawings, accessory details, installation drawings, and 3D models for containment systems.
  • Design custom containment solutions based on customer requirements, specifications, and field conditions.
  • Provide technical design support to the sales team throughout the quotation and project lifecycle.
  • Review customer requests and identify missing information required to complete designs accurately.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and design documentation.
  • Leverage AI tools and automation to improve design workflows, quote tracking, and integration between drawings and Salesforce (SFDC) opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve design efficiency using emerging technologies.
  • Support development of standard design libraries, templates, and configurable solutions.
  • Coordinate with Estimators and Project Managers to ensure designs align with project scope, pricing, and schedules.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Safety, LEAN, Continuous Improvement, and Teamwork.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of CAD design experience in manufacturing, architectural products, or construction-related industries.
  • Proficiency with Solid Works required.
  • Experience creating fabrication, installation, and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

** Remote work will be considered for candidates living within the PA/MD areas with willingness to travel occasionally to our office/plant locations in this region.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Drive Works, Autodesk Inventor, and Microsoft Visio preferred.
  • Experience supporting technical sales or custom-engineered products preferred.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce (SFDC) or other CRM systems is a plus.
  • Interest in AI tools and workflow automation to improve business processes.
