Product Development Engineer - Industrial Pumps

Our client, a leading manufacturer of industrial pumps and fluid handling systems, is looking for a skilled Product Development Engineer to join their innovative team in Polokwane, Limpopo . This role is focused on the entire lifecycle of new pump products, from initial concept generation and design to testing, validation, and market launch. You will leverage your mechanical engineering expertise to develop robust, efficient, and reliable pump solutions for various industrial applications.

• Lead the development of new industrial pump products, from concept to commercialization.
• Design and engineer pump components and systems using advanced CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor).
• Conduct performance analysis, including CFD and FEA, to optimize hydraulic efficiency and structural integrity.
• Develop prototypes and oversee testing procedures to validate design performance and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure product requirements are met.
• Specify materials, select components, and manage supplier relationships for new product development.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues encountered during prototyping and early production phases.
• Stay informed about market trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies in the pump industry.
• Contribute to intellectual property development and patent applications.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development or mechanical design, with a focus on rotating equipment or fluid handling systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with CFD/FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pump theory, and mechanical design principles.
• Experience with prototype development and product testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a hybrid work setting.
• Experience in the industrial pump or fluid machinery sector is highly desirable.
• Willingness to engage in both remote and on-site activities in Polokwane, Limpopo.
