Structural Engineer

Our client, a prestigious engineering consultancy firm based in Centurion, Gauteng , is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Structural Engineer to join their expanding design team. This role is central to the design and analysis of structural components for a variety of complex building and infrastructure projects across South Africa . The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation, excellent analytical abilities, and a practical understanding of structural behavior and materials.

You will be responsible for developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural solutions, ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and standards. • Perform structural analysis and design for new buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and verify structural integrity.
• Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors for compliance with design intent.
• Identify and resolve structural design issues and challenges during project execution.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international building codes, standards, and regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and design proposals.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering technology and methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Pr.Eng or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP
  2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, Revit Structure).
• Strong understanding of material science (steel, concrete, timber) and structural mechanics.
• Experience in a variety of project types, including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Familiarity with South African National Standards (SANS) and other relevant codes.
