Lead Electrical Design Engineer - Renewable Energy Integration

This role demands a deep understanding of power systems, grid interconnection standards, power electronics, and project leadership. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive the technical excellence required to deliver sustainable energy solutions on a large scale.

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for utility-scale and distributed renewable energy projects.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications for solar PV, wind turbines, and BESS.
• Perform complex electrical studies, including power flow, short-circuit, transient stability, and protection coordination analyses.
• Ensure designs comply with grid interconnection requirements, utility standards, and relevant codes (e.g., IEEE, IEC, SANS).
• Specify and select key electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, switch gear, and battery systems.
• Oversee the electrical aspects of project execution, providing technical guidance and support throughout the lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop a team of electrical engineers, fostering technical growth and project delivery excellence.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, civil/structural engineers, and external stakeholders in a remote environment.
• Stay current with advancements in renewable energy technology and grid integration practices.

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy projects and grid integration.
• Proven experience in designing and engineering systems for solar PV, wind, and battery storage.
• Expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PVSyst).
• Strong knowledge of grid codes, interconnection standards, and utility requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for remote work.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
