Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution

. This role operates on a hybrid basis, offering a blend of remote work and essential office-based collaboration. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and specification of electrical distribution systems for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, and municipal developments. Your role will involve ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient delivery of electrical power. • Design electrical distribution systems, including medium and low voltage networks.
• Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules.
• Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switch gear, cables, and protective devices.
• Conduct load calculations, fault current analysis, and protection coordination studies.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards (e.g., SANS, IEC).
• Liaise with utility companies and regulatory bodies for approvals and connections.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Perform site visits for data collection, inspection, and construction support.
• Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation.
• Assist in project management tasks related to electrical distribution aspects.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-6 years of experience in electrical power distribution design.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or ETAP.
• Strong understanding of power system analysis and protection principles.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.
• Professional registration (Pr. Eng.) is advantageous.
