Senior Civil Designer - Stormwater Management

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Civil Designer to join their growing team in Benoni, Gauteng . This role focuses on the design and development of stormwater management systems for a variety of urban and infrastructure projects. The Senior Civil Designer will be responsible for producing high-quality design drawings, calculations, and documentation, working collaboratively with civil engineers and project managers.

This hybrid position allows for a flexible work arrangement, combining office-based tasks with remote work capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in CAD software and a deep understanding of hydrology and stormwater engineering principles. Your expertise will be crucial in developing effective solutions for drainage and flood control in the rapidly developing areas around Benoni .

• Produce detailed civil design drawings for stormwater infrastructure, including culverts, channels, detention ponds, and drainage systems, using CAD software.
• Assist in the calculation of runoff, flow rates, and hydraulic capacities for stormwater systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and documentation for stormwater projects.
• Collaborate with civil engineers to develop design concepts and solutions.
• Conduct site visits as needed to gather information and assess existing conditions.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant local authority requirements, SANS standards, and environmental regulations.
• Review and check drawings and calculations prepared by other designers or engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of bills of quantities and cost estimates for stormwater works.
• Support the project team throughout the design and construction phases.
• Maintain accurate project records and design files.

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Civil Designer, with a strong emphasis on stormwater management.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
• Experience with hydrological modeling software is a plus.
• Solid understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater design principles.
• Knowledge of relevant South African municipal standards and SANS codes.
• Experience in urban planning and land development projects is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage design tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites within Gauteng.
