Remote Senior Structural Engineer - Commercial Buildings

Our client, a distinguished architectural and engineering firm with a global presence, is looking for a highly experienced Remote Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design of commercial buildings. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards, adhering to all building codes and client specifications.

• Lead the structural design of complex commercial buildings, including high-rise structures, retail centers, and office complexes.
• Perform advanced structural analysis and design using state-of-the-art software for steel, concrete, and composite structures.
• Develop comprehensive structural drawings, specifications, and technical reports for tender and construction purposes.
• Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other consultants in a virtual environment to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Manage structural engineering aspects of projects, coordinating design efforts and ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams remotely.
• Conduct design reviews, ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international building codes and standards (e.g., SANS codes).
• Respond to requests for information (RFIs) from contractors and site teams during the construction phase.
• Contribute to business development by participating in client presentations and proposal development.
• Stay current with emerging trends, materials, and technologies in structural engineering for buildings.

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in the structural design of commercial buildings, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
• Demonstrated experience in leading structural design teams and managing complex projects.
• Expert proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP
  2000, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System).
• Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit Structure) and advanced modeling techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of steel and concrete design principles and construction methods.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, particularly in a remote work context.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
