Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Our client, a prominent infrastructure development firm, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is pivotal in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of complex civil engineering projects, ensuring adherence to the highest industry standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in structural analysis, design, and project management, coupled with a passion for innovative engineering solutions.

You will be instrumental in mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects from conception through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure developments within South Africa.

• Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for various infrastructure projects, including bridges, buildings, and transportation systems.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budgets, and timelines, and ensure their efficient execution.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Perform site inspections and provide technical guidance to construction teams to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications.
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
• Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
• Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant national and international engineering codes and standards.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering specialization preferred).
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Pr.Eng.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil and structural engineering, with a significant focus on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in structural design software such as SAP
  2000, ETABS, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant building codes.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and their application in structural design.
• Excellent project management and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from initiation to closure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
