Position: Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist at Jobgether Remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist based in the United States. Take a leadership role in delivering environmental compliance for major energy, transmission, and infrastructure projects across the western United States. You will oversee construction-phase compliance programs, guide field inspection teams, and help ensure project activities meet environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and resource protection commitments.

With a primary focus on a major transmission upgrade in southwestern Nevada, you will collaborate with contractors, developers, government agencies, and multidisciplinary environmental specialists. Your expertise will help protect sensitive ecosystems, including desert tortoise habitats, while supporting responsible infrastructure development. This role combines field leadership, regulatory coordination, client engagement, and project management in a dynamic consulting environment. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, mentoring others, and contributing to sustainable project delivery.

Accountabilities
  • Lead environmental compliance programs for complex energy, transmission, utility, transportation, water, and infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as the senior field compliance lead for a major transmission upgrade project in southwestern Nevada, overseeing construction activities and environmental performance.
  • Supervise and coordinate environmental compliance inspectors, providing field guidance and ensuring consistent implementation of project requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with environmental permits, mitigation measures, right-of-way conditions, and other environmental commitments.
  • Oversee implementation of biological resource protection measures, including those designed to protect desert tortoises and other sensitive species.
  • Coordinate with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), authorized officers, developers, contractors, construction managers, and environmental teams.
  • Oversee compliance programs covering biological and cultural resources, stormwater management, erosion control, air quality, noise, restoration, and related environmental considerations.
  • Evaluate contractor performance, identify potential compliance issues, document field observations, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Manage environmental compliance reports, audits, agency submissions, field records, and regulatory documentation.
  • Lead client discussions, construction coordination meetings, and regulatory consultations to resolve issues and maintain project alignment.
  • Support project managers, compliance specialists, and technical staff through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and practical guidance.
  • Contribute to project planning, proposal preparation, scopes of work, budget development, and business development initiatives.
  • Support additional environmental compliance assignments as needed across California, Nevada, and Arizona.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and high-quality project delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, regulatory oversight, and project management, preferably on major infrastructure, energy, transmission, utility, transportation, or water projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading construction-phase environmental compliance programs and overseeing field personnel or compliance inspection teams.
