Senior Civil Engineer - Municipal Infrastructure Projects

Our client, a reputable civil engineering consultancy with a strong focus on municipal infrastructure, is looking for a dedicated Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is pivotal in managing and delivering essential public works projects, including water reticulation, sewer systems, stormwater management, and road upgrades within the region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in municipal engineering design, project management, and stakeholder engagement, including working with local authorities.

You will lead project teams, ensure designs meet stringent quality and regulatory standards, and provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This hybrid position requires a blend of on-site presence for critical meetings and site inspections, alongside the flexibility of remote work for design and analysis tasks. We are seeking a proactive professional committed to improving community infrastructure in the beautiful Paarl area and beyond.

• Manage and execute civil engineering projects related to municipal infrastructure, including water, sanitation, and roads.
• Prepare detailed designs, drawings, specifications, and tender documents for public works.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and impact assessments for infrastructure development.
• Oversee project implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Liaise effectively with municipal clients, contractors, and community stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant SANS, municipal bylaws, and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Review project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform site inspections and project supervision during construction phases.
• Contribute to proposals and business development efforts for municipal projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering, with a significant focus on municipal infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and water/wastewater modeling software.
• Strong understanding of municipal planning processes, procurement, and project management methodologies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results within set constraints.
• Experience working with municipalities in the Western Cape , particularly in the Paarl region, is highly desirable.
