Senior Civil Engineer - Dams & Water Reticulation

Our client, a respected engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in dams and water reticulation systems to join their team. This position is based in Bloemfontein , but offers a flexible remote work option for suitable candidates, allowing for a balance between on-site project engagement and remote operational efficiency. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and project management of critical water infrastructure projects, including dam construction, rehabilitation, and the development of extensive water supply networks.

• Lead the design and project management of dam construction, rehabilitation, and appurtenant structures.
• Develop and optimize water reticulation networks, including pipelines, pump stations, and reservoirs.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for water resource projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ensure compliance with South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
• Undertake site supervision and quality assurance during the construction phase.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk assessment.
• Contribute to business development and proposal preparation.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the design and management of dams and water supply systems.
• Proven experience with hydrological modeling and hydraulic design software.
• Strong understanding of dam safety regulations and construction practices.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, managing both remote and office-based tasks.
• Ability to undertake site visits as required to the Bloemfontein area and other project locations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
