Job Description & How to Apply Below

Remote / Home-Based | Up to 25% Regional Travel

Help build a growing engineering practice while improving the performance of critical healthcare facilities.

Our client is an emerging building technology and engineering company seeking a Senior Building Performance Engineer to turn HVAC expertise, building automation data, and energy analytics into measurable improvements for healthcare facilities.

This opportunity combines the flexibility of a home-based position with direct access to company leadership and meaningful influence over how the engineering practice develops. An active, funded, program provides the foundation, with an initial focus on medical campuses across New York State and opportunities for future national expansion.

The Opportunity:

You will investigate how building systems actually operate, identify energy and operational improvements, and help facility teams put recommendations into practice. The work combines targeted site assessments with remote analysis of building automation system data, engineering problem-solving, and customer presentations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys the investigative side of energy auditing, commissioning, and building optimization and wants to stay involved beyond the assessment to see recommendations produce results.

What You Will Do

Analyze HVAC, central plant, BAS, and utility data to identify inefficiencies, control issues, and optimization opportunities.

Apply engineering judgment to validate findings from an advanced analytics and fault detection platform.

Conduct targeted site assessments and work with facility personnel to understand equipment, operating conditions, and control sequences.

Develop practical recommendations supported by energy savings calculations, operational benefits, and measurement and verification.

Lead customer meetings and clearly explain technical findings, priorities, and results.

Work with facility teams and controls contractors to track implementation and verify improvements.

Help develop engineering methods and delivery practices, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers as the team grows.

What You Bring

A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with strong HVAC and building systems knowledge.

Approximately seven to fifteen years of relevant experience in energy engineering, energy auditing, commissioning, retro-commissioning, or building performance.

Familiarity with BAS data, sensors, set points, and sequences of operation.

The ability to translate operating data into practical engineering recommendations.

Strong communication skills and confidence leading discussions with customers independently.

Experience developing energy savings calculations and familiarity with measurement and verification.

Healthcare experience is strongly preferred; higher education and other complex institutional facility experience are also valuable.

PE, CEM, commissioning, or M&V credentials are a plus.

Why Consider a Move?

An early opportunity to make an impact. Work directly with company leadership and help shape a growing engineering practice.

A path toward broader responsibility. Strong performance could lead to engineering leadership as the company adds customers and team members.

Engineering with visible results. Follow opportunities from diagnosis through implementation and verified performance improvements.

Flexibility with purposeful travel. Work from home, with up to 25% travel for site assessments and customer meetings. Initial travel will focus on New York State.

Benefits include a 4% 401(k) match, 100% employer-paid employee healthcare coverage, 50% family healthcare coverage, and discretionary bonus potential. Future performance-based equity may be considered for core team members but is not guaranteed.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and able to meet federal background investigation and VA credentialing requirements.

If you want greater ownership of your work and the opportunity to help build a team, we welcome a confidential conversation.
