Gaming / Gambling Related Harms Prevention (GRHP) Community Engagement Worker

Part‑time: 16–24 hours per week across 3 roles (between 3–4 days a week depending on hours). Flexible working with some evening and weekend hours as required to meet community group sessions.

Salary: £26,500 pro rata (FTE £13.73 per hour), plus mileage/public transport allowance up to an agreed limit.

Contract:

2‑year fixed term with potential for extension if funding allows.

Location:

Community‑based sites across Dudley Borough and the City of Wolverhampton, with home working. Occasional attendance at the Dudley office may be required, particularly during induction and training.

Start date:

Within the next two months (date to be confirmed during recruitment).

The role focuses on delivering prevention and early‑intervention presentations to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms among at‑risk community groups. Sessions will be presented to young people and adults in groups of up to 10 people, targeting communities with higher risk and deprivation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre‑prepared stand‑up presentations to community groups across Dudley and Wolverhampton.
  • Engaging with young people and adult audiences to explain gambling‑related harms and how to access support services.
  • Working collaboratively with a partnership of specialist organisations, academic partners, and VCSE organisations to deliver consistent messaging.
  • Participating in training and induction sessions and maintaining accurate records of sessions delivered.

Qualifications and personal qualities required:

  • Personal or professional experience with gaming/gambling harms and/or supporting someone with lived experience of these harms.
  • Experience standing up and presenting to groups of people, including young people.
  • Charismatic, engaging communication style tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Empathy and compassion when dealing with vulnerable individuals.
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check (funded by the employer).
