Remote Senior Game Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and experienced Senior Game Designer to join their internationally distributed team, working remotely from anywhere in South Africa. In this role, you will conceptualize, design, and document core game mechanics, systems, and player experiences for innovative new titles. You will collaborate closely with artists, programmers, and producers to bring engaging gameplay to life, ensuring a cohesive and compelling player journey across various platforms.

• Design and document detailed game mechanics, systems, and player progression frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (art, programming, production) to implement and iterate on game features.
• Create compelling player experiences, ensuring intuitive controls and engaging gameplay loops.
• Develop and maintain game design documentation, including GDDs, feature specs, and flowcharts.
• Provide creative direction and feedback throughout the development cycle, advocating for the player's perspective.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in game design, with at least 2 shipped titles in a senior role.
• Proven ability to design and document complex game systems and mechanics.
• Strong understanding of game development pipelines and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate design vision clearly.
• Proficiency with game design tools and methodologies.
