Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Gunfire Games, we’re passionate about creating unforgettable worlds and experiences. With a legacy built on titles like Darksiders III, Chronos, and the Remnant series, we continue to push the boundaries of game development through creativity, collaboration, and a relentless commitment to quality. We’re looking for talented, passionate developers who are excited to help shape the next chapter of our story.

Gunfire Games is seeking a Sound Designer on a short-term contract basis to support our audio team in creating high-quality sound effects for our games. Assets may include everything from creatures and weapons to abilities, combat effects, and environmental sounds. We welcome applicants of all experience levels. We're interested in seeing the quality of your work, your creativity, and your ability to bring unique sounds to life.

This is an individual contractor opportunity. A demo reel showcasing your sound design work is required for consideration. This opportunity focuses on sound effects creation, not music composition.

Requirements
What You’ll Do:
  • Create high-quality sound effects for in-game assets, including creatures, weapons, abilities, combat, and environmental elements.
  • Design, edit, process, and refine audio assets based on the project’s creative and technical needs.
  • Collaborate with the audio team to develop sounds that enhance gameplay and bring characters, environments, and encounters to life.
  • Incorporate creative feedback and revise audio assets as needed.
  • Organize and deliver audio files according to project specifications and deadlines.
Who You Are:
  • You have a passion for sound design and creating audio for video games.
  • You have experience creating sound effects through professional work, independent projects, or personal projects.
  • You are familiar with audio production and editing software.
  • You can work independently, manage assignments, and communicate effectively with a remote team.
  • You are receptive to creative direction and comfortable working within an established production process.
Bonus XP:
  • Experience creating sound effects for PC or console games.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine or other game development engines.
  • Experience designing creature vocals, weapon sounds, magical abilities, or other gameplay-focused audio.
  • Knowledge of Foley, field recording, synthesis, sound layering, and audio processing techniques.
  • A passion for action, RPG, dark fantasy, science fiction, or horror games.

The responsibilities listed above are not intended to be exhaustive. The selected contractor may be expected to perform additional duties as required.

This position is offered as a short-term contract opportunity and is not a regular full-time employee position. Contract terms, duration, scope of work, and compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates based on their experience, skills, and alignment with project needs.
