Sky Water is excited to be representing a PE‑backed manufacturing client who is hiring a newly created Operations Controller to support their growth. This is a great time to get involved with a company that is expanding through both strategic acquisitions and organic growth, and to play a key role in supporting the business as it continues to scale.
This is an onsite role based in the Twin Cities, with flexibility to work from home when needed. Due to the in‑person nature of the position, only local candidates currently living in the Twin Cities will be considered at this time.
Responsibilities- Cost Accounting & Financial Management: Own product costing, inventory valuation, and internal controls—keeping numbers accurate and processes smooth. Assess current costing methods and lead the transition to standard costing where it makes sense. Drive ERP implementation efforts and ensure our financial data is reliable and actionable. Partner with FP&A to dig into gross margin performance and tell the story behind the numbers.
- Operational Support & Analysis: Analyze manufacturing site performance, including material, labor, and overhead costs, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Collaborate with site leadership to turn financial insights into operational improvements. Optimize inventory management by analyzing levels, scrap rates, and material usage. Support capital investment planning, including ROI analysis for equipment and process improvements.
- Reporting & Compliance: Develop metrics and reporting that help improve inventory accuracy and labor efficiency. Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and industry regulations. Partner with internal and external auditors to keep operations on track. Monitor adherence to delegation of authority policies and strengthen financial governance.

Collaboration:
Serve as a trusted partner across operations, supply chain, engineering, and FP&A to drive business performance. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of cost accountants and analysts. Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.

Desired Skills and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years in manufacturing finance/cost accounting with multisite experience
- 2+ years in management
- Proven track record leading process improvements and driving financial accountability
- Willingness to travel up to 15%
