Job SummaryThe Accounting Manager, Capital Assets reports to the Senior Director of Capital Assets, Federal Cost Accounting, and Gift and Grant Accounting in the Office of the University Controller and ensures the integrity of data within the general ledger and the Capital Asset Management System by verifying that all university expenditures are capitalized appropriately, and internal controls are maintained.
Department-Specific Responsibilities- Provide oversight and strategic management for university-wide accounting, compliance, and controls for all fixed assets ($4.1 billion).
- Oversee/manage institution-wide inventory process for all movable equipment.
- Support the preparation of the university's Consolidated Financial Statements by preparing notes related to leases.
- Review monthly reconciliations for over 850 leases and software contracts.
- Review all major construction projects for capitalization accuracy and verify asset substantial completion prior to depreciation.
- Componentize construction project assets in research buildings.
- Hire, train, develop, and oversee growth and performance of UCO Capital Asset staff.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage the general accounting functions, primarily focusing on coordination of financial audits.
- Make recommendations to higher-level people leaders regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize earnings.
- Manage staff, make hiring decisions, provide coaching, training and mentoring, manage performance, and determine staffing needs.
- Oversee and monitor account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements for reasonableness and compliance with GAAP.
- Participate in complex accounting projects.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

- 4 years in a relevant field
- 1 year of management experience

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Indiana license or Indiana license eligible

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Work LocationBloomington, Indiana. This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in‑person work), subject to change based on university policy or departmental business needs.
Advertised Salary$90,000 - $94,554 annually
