We are Oliver Wyman Actuarial

The Actuarial Practice at Oliver Wyman (OWA) provides high-end actuarial advisory services covering a broad range of insurance and actuarial topics including insurance M&A, capital modelling, Solvency II, reinsurance, financial risk modelling, and regulatory advice.

Our OWA Benelux team started in Amsterdam in 2020 and is also established in Brussels per 2025 given strong growth in the Belgian market for our services. We offer the opportunity to learn and grow quickly in a fast-growing collaborative environment. We are part of one European team (and one P&L) and therefore seamlessly work across borders. In this international space, we foster personal connections and an informal working atmosphere where you can work alongside highly ambitious and energetic professionals, who combine a strategic mindset with professional qualifications.

At Oliver Wyman, our ambition is to create a sense of belonging for each of our people through our words and actions. We want all our people to be their best selves at work, exercising their right to be included and their duty to include others. In all that we do, we prioritise equality, value inclusion, and expect respect.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently expanding our team and looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join our Brussels office. This role involves collaboration with the actuarial teams across Europe, as well as our wider management consulting teams, to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions for our clients.

Just as every client project is different, we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful candidates. We are seeking high-caliber individuals who want to join our team. Preference will be given to candidates with the following profile:

  • Experience:0–2 years of experience in a relevant field as a consultant or member of an actuarial or risk management team in an insurance company.
  • Study:Master’s degree in a quantitative study (for example actuarial science, econometrics, mathematics, physics). Other qualifications in risk management or quantitative modelling are a plus.
  • Way of thinking and working:Deep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving ability. You are able to translate quantitative and qualitative findings into strategic actions.
  • Programming skills:Experience with Python, R, Excel/VBA, C++ or any other programming language is a plus.
  • Expertise:Experience and/or interest in the insurance sector, (financial) risk modelling and consulting. An internship at a consulting firm or at an insurer is a plus.
  • Language:Outstanding verbal and written communication in English and one Belgian national language (Flemish/Dutch or French).
What do we offer?

At Oliver Wyman, our success stems directly from the quality of our talented people. We have opportunities for individuals eager to put their talent and knowledge to work in a stimulating environment that rewards excellence. We offer a competitive remuneration package (including company car, pension plan, meal vouchers, work from home allowance).

As a new Actuarial Consultant in the Benelux team, Brussels office, you will

Work alongside, and learn from, Oliver Wyman’s industry leaders and other experienced consultants while contributing to a broad range of client projects. You will gain industry exposure with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top-tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, regulators, private equity firms and many more. You will also have the chance to take the initiative on new and emerging ideas, leveraging the wider Oliver Wyman and Marsh McLennan organizations.

In the Actuarial Consultant role, you will:

  • Help build the actuarial service practice.
  • Work on a diversity of complex projects related to strategic, quantitative, risk management, data science, and actuarial questions.
  • Work with a multitude of clients in The Netherlands and abroad, further building up your (international) network.
  • Define your own learning path – OWA offers and supports structured learning opportunities (like FRM or becoming an Actuary) and in-house competency trainings.
  • Work in a flexible environment, where we combine working from our office, the client’s office, and from home.
