Tax Manager, Tax Accountant
Summary / Objective
Reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Manager is responsible for serving as a leader in the tax department and ensuring accurate and timely processing of tax returns for the Firm by completing a final review of all returns, a detail review of some returns, managing workflow, and assisting the Senior Tax Managers and/or Tax Manager II and planning teams as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Manage the daily workflow of tasks for their assigned clients
- Complete final review of all tax returns and detail reviews of some tax returns prior to sending to planning team and/or client
- Oversee assigned Tax Admin Specialist for team
- Provide weekly updates to the Senior Manager and/or Tax Manager II regarding overall performance
- Work closely with Senior Tax Managers and/or Tax Manager II to prepare for each tax season
- Work with Tax Advisors on preparing and reviewing of annual tax preparation for clients
- Work closely with Tax Advisors, Tax Manager II and/or Senior Tax Managers to address questions/concerns from the planning teams
- Partner with Planners to ensure a seamless workflow between departments
- Create and present tax training materials alongside Tax Manager II, Senior Tax Managers and Senior Tax Research Manager
- Work closely with Senior Tax Research Manager, Tax Manager II and Senior Tax Managers to address research projects, staff training materials & staff training events
- Mentor Tax Advisors on professional development within the tax department
- Act as an active participant in the recruiting process (review resumes and interview candidates)
- Log IRS and State correspondences; delegate accordingly to the proper department/person
- Work closely with Administrative Team to ensure the proper processing/releasing of Tax Returns and various tasks
- Work with Tax Onboarding team to ensure proper training is being provided

Job RequirementsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Tax, or related field
- CPA or EA required
- 8+ years’ experience in public accounting or its equivalent
- Proven experience with Lacerte tax preparation software is highly desirable
- Thorough knowledge of tax laws
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience managing a team strongly preferred
Limited travel is expected for this position.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Upon management’s approval, remote work may be allowed using firm-approved office equipment. Correspondence with coworkers may be in person or through virtual means.
Physical DemandsThis is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management’s approval.

CompensationMinimum: $130,000 - Maximum: $160,000
