First World Mortgage is seeking the right candidate to fill an immediate need as a Senior Mortgage Underwriter. This is a permanent, full time position; remote work potential.

• 5+ years in the mortgage industry, with 3 of the most recent being as an underwriter for forward mortgage loans
• FHA Direct Endorsement required
• Knowledge of DU and LP and evaluating feedback required
• VA Automatic/LAPP required
• Experience underwriting USDA loans preferred
• Experience underwriting CHFA loans REQUIRED
• Paperless environment
• Proficiency with Encompass desired
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and redirect efforts as needed

• Underwrite first mortgage loans to agency and insurer compliance
• Decision all loan files in a timely manner and communicate decision to loan officer and processor
• Review conditions on loans within required time frames to move loans to closing
• Regularly exercising knowledge and independent judgement to propose restructuring alternatives on loans where applicable
• Submitting loans for mortgage insurance approval
• Pre-flighting credit and income at the request of sales force and/or manager
• Review appraisals to ensure adequate collateral
