Real Estate Controller
A Boston-based real estate investment and development firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Controller to lead financial operations, manage third-party accounting relationships, and optimize internal systems. This leadership position plays a key role in supporting growth and scalability while maintaining high standards in financial reporting and operational efficiency. Compensation,Benefits, and Work Arrangement:
- Base Salary:
Up to $180,000 per year - Bonus:
Up to 20% (bonus structure in development) - Benefits:

Hybrid – combination of in-office and remote work flexibility
- Oversee third-party property accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting and timely financial deliverables
- Manage internal accounting operations, including cash management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses
- Prepare annual budgets, semi-annual forecasts, and quarterly financial updates for senior leadership
- Oversee treasury functions, capital requisitions, and development project reporting
- Manage annual CAM and real estate tax budget processes and reconciliations
- Lead accounting system improvements and assist in software implementation projects (e.g., Yardi)
- 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience in real estate
- Proven track record managing third-party accounting relationships
- Experience preparing and overseeing corporate and property-level financial reports
- Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with MRI or Avid Xchange
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Experience:
- Public accounting background or CPA designation
- Experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate development accounting
- Familiarity with managing or implementing accounting software systems

- Proficiency in Yardi or similar real estate accounting software
- Strong cash management and financial forecasting capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership and oversight skills in multi-entity accounting environments
