Senior Accountant

Silver Spring, MD – LHH is partnering with a forward‑thinking company to expand its accounting team. We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to provide accurate and timely financial information, maintain records, and support the overall financial operations of the organization. The role is a hybrid model, combining remote work with occasional in‑office collaboration.

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, identifying improvement areas and recommending actions to optimize financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes: prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations, and generate financial reports.
• Assist in audit schedule preparation and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—finance, operations, executive management—to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
• Identify automation opportunities and streamline accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by finance leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or active CPA candidacy preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present financial data effectively.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and problem‑solving mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
