Position Summary

As more than just compliance, the Technical Accounting, Reporting & Policy Manager will partner across Finance and other parts of the company to support growth. As the owner of both SEC reporting and Technical Accounting & Policy, you will be a key player ensuring operational and financial impacts are reflected externally and underlying accounting is correct. The role is dynamic, involving recurring and non-recurring work as a team leader and individual contributor.

Improving existing processes to make them more efficient, reliable, and scalable will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Lead the timely and accurate preparation and review of SEC filings (10K/10Q/8K)
  • Support Investor Relations for press releases, Legal on preparation of the Proxy statement and other external public filings as needed
  • Coordinate compilation of all components of certain Audit Committee materials ensuring high quality and timeliness
  • Utilize and optimize tools such as Workiva and Oracle Fusion
  • Provide ad‑hoc financial information requests to other departments

Technical Accounting & Policy

  • Research, document and resolve complex accounting issues and transactions, including revenue recognition, deferred costs, internally developed software, and business combinations
  • Stay up to date on accounting standard updates and ensure timely adoption cross‑functionally
  • Lead ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures
  • Support the Controllership in providing training on new and existing accounting standards and hot topics
Location

This role is hybrid out of our Minneapolis office. We Succeed Together through in‑person collaboration balanced with remote work to provide flexibility.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with SEC filings, U.S. GAAP, and SOX
  • Ability to take initiative, use strong research, analytical and communication skills while having attention to detail, a collaborative style, and an inquisitive mindset
Preferred Experience
  • Strong application and interpretation experience within Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), ideally in Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Public accounting and/or public company experience
  • CPA licensure
  • Demonstrated abilities and comfort with platforms such as Oracle Fusion, Workiva, Black Line, and PowerBI
  • Polished communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions, including supporting due diligence and leading valuation of acquired intangible assets
What We Offer

At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee’s compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills. The salary range for this role is $115,900 – $185,500 + Bonus. The actual salary offered will be based on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range.
