Position: PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT

Title: Payroll Accountant
Salary: To $100K plus bonus
Hybrid: Work from home 2 days per week, in office 3 days per week
Location: Iselin NJ area

Seeking a Payroll Accountant for a fast-paced, collaborative environment to handle payroll activities for various small businesses and related entities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Enter pay data, including time and attendance, employee maintenance, and record keeping using payroll applications.
  • Manage daily payroll operations for various client entities.
  • Process payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Understand taxation of employer-provided benefits.
  • Handle garnishment calculations and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
  • Review time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
  • Perform gross-up calculations and manual checks.
  • Ensure timely payroll updates for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
  • Verify year-end vendor reporting.
  • Process insurance payments and audits.
  • Respond promptly to client requests.
  • Maintain electronic client files.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, CBIZ, Insperity).
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, and wage laws.
  • Ability to calculate payroll tax withholding.
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Understanding of workers' compensation and disability laws.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
