Senior Actuary

Phenom Consulting is seeking an experienced Actuary for a prominent insurance company. This role involves data and automation projects, quarterly performance monitoring, and reserve analyses within the specialty property & casualty (P&C) portfolio.

The position emphasizes developing dashboards, automating data flows and work processes, and collaborating with Pricing Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Financial Services teams. This hybrid role is based in New York City.

• Develop BI reports and dashboards to present findings to management and key stakeholders.
• Enhance processes with automated models using Python or R.
• Maintain and support automation processes for quarterly exhibits and annual reserve studies.
• Integrate data from various sources for efficient management and analysis.
• Recommend improvements to streamline and automate existing actuarial data flows and processes.
• Provide guidance to consulting and development teams to adhere to best practices.
• Partner with Finance, Pricing Actuarial, and Claims to improve collaborative efforts.
• Conduct annual reserve reviews.
• Prepare presentation materials and communicate findings to management.
• Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley processes and procedures.

• 5+ years of actuarial experience in P&C
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and/or R, or demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages.
• Experience in project management and process redesign is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills;
  Excel VBA experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Power BI.
• Experience with ResQ is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, focused, and detail-oriented.
• Self-starter capable of working both independently and within a team.
