Senior Underwriting Consultant

• Evaluate applications of high financial impact and complexity while adhering to underwriting policies
• Negotiate and manage time and resources to meet deadlines and service times
• Provide training and act as an information resource for junior underwriters
• Audit applications and medical record summaries to ensure compliance with established guidelines
• Review underwriting fraud referrals and assist management with business reviews

• College graduate or equivalent business experience
• Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience or exposure
• Strong knowledge of underwriting functions and the employer's various businesses
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to define, research, and resolve problems

• In-depth knowledge of medical science, technology, and terminology related to underwriting
• Proven ability to create and maintain customer relationships
• Familiarity with company plans, riders, benefits, and illustrations
