The anticipated salary range for this role is between $131,000 and $200,000. The specific salary offered will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
Role DescriptionSMBC Capital Markets, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, is an interest rates derivatives trading company based in New York City with offices in London and Hong Kong. We are a leading market‑maker in interest rates and foreign exchange.
Responsibilities- Assist traders in performing market analysis and developing trading strategies.
- Book all OTC and exchange‑traded derivative trades into Capital Markets Front Office systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Support a significantly sized option book by performing daily risk and P&L reconciliation and creating end‑of‑day reports for traders.
- Monitor daily curves (rates, FX basis, tenor basis) and volatility (cap and swaption) calibration to ensure end‑of‑day books are marked correctly.
- Run daily stress tests for the options desk and send daily reports summarizing the results along with market commentary.
- Send relevant daily reports to Senior Management on the daily risk and P&L of the derivatives portfolio.
- Be involved in multiple projects concerning new product types, system enhancement, audit support, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, math, engineering, or a related area.
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, math, engineering, or a related area.
- 2–5 years’ experience working in a trade support related role, ideally in the derivatives space.
- Strong analytical background and desire to learn more about financial markets.
- Programming knowledge in Python or VBA is a good addition.
