The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. This role manages the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, while implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard company assets. The Controller will lead the accounting team, partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, and provide timely financial insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other applicable financial regulations.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budget; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic goals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as all applicable reporting requirements.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Establish clear goals, deadlines, and expectations for team members.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accuracy, and efficiency within the finance department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with [specific ERP or accounting software, e.g., Net Suite, Quick Books, SAP] preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
- Standard office environment or remote work setting.
- Occasional travel for audits, training, or company meetings may be required.
