The Position Our bank client is seeking to fill a Hybrid Remote Mortgage Production Supervisor role to be based in the Rockford, IL market.

The successful candidate will be responsible for playing a key leadership role in ensuring our mortgage process is both efficient and high-quality, while guiding a team that supports our borrowers with care and clarity.

This position offers a generous base salary of up to $85K and an excellent benefits package. (This is a hybrid remote position)

Mortgage Production Supervisor responsibilities include:

  • Underwrite all secondary market residential mortgage loan files assuring that they meet all investor’s guidelines, as well, as compliance guidelines for state & federal requirements.
  • Underwrite and compile loans which are underwritten by other investors such as IHDA or DPP loans.
  • Underwrite for Affordable Second Mortgage (DPP and DPA).
  • Underwrite grant loan programs (DPP and IHDA).
  • Communicate with investors as needed-FHLMC, IHDA, PMI.
  • Perform all final reviews of files prior to closing, assuring the integrity of final loan prospector’s submission.
  • Perform Appraisal review of all Portfolio mortgages and the Evaluation Bank’s Loan Policy. Compile HMDA Maintenance review post-closing and Quarterly reviews.
  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation to assess the borrower’s creditworthiness, income stability, and ability to repay.
  • Make sound underwriting decisions by adhering to lending guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Ensure all loan files comply with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and the Bank’s internal policies.
  • Approve, suspend, or deny loans based on accurate risk assessment.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions and recommendations to internal stakeholders, providing clear explanations and documentation. Serve as a subject matter expert on mortgage underwriting and compliance issues, offering guidance to colleagues as needed. Collaborate with various departments such as sales, operations, and compliance to ensure a smooth loan process and enhance loan quality.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, preferably within a bank or financial institution. Strong understanding of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret income tax returns, balance sheet and income statements and other financial reports.
  • Knowledge of and experience using spreadsheet, word processing, and financial analysis software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
