Senior Actuarial Analyst – QBE North America

Salary Range: $88,000–165,000 (national range)
Provide strong qualitative and technical support in product development, financial analysis, management reporting, and actuarial research by applying actuarial and statistical concepts to deliver timely analyses for key stakeholders. This role supports the Aviation team.
Responsibilities- Leverage technology to communicate issues and propose solutions to current analyses and new opportunities.
- Construct analytical approaches by determining data needs, identifying appropriate sources, and recognizing data anomalies.
- Meet quality service standards with clearly documented worksheets and analyses; ensure all work is reviewed by a senior actuary and meet deadlines.
- Execute actuarial analyses in a clear, well‑organized manner for the appropriate audience.
- Develop deep relationships within the department and with external stakeholders through project interactions.
- Engage in recruitment activities and help develop junior actuaries.
- Contribute to systems, models, and procedural revisions by conducting research and recommending changes to encourage efficiency.
- Resolve basic actuarial modeling and risk issues, escalating as needed.
- Support the department by taking personal accountability for tasks, going beyond requirements, and learning from feedback.
- Seek guidance from senior actuaries and pursue further development, including actuarial credentials.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions.
- Identify complex problems and evaluate options.
- Plan and prioritize own work.
- Adapt in a complex, changing environment.
- Choose solutions in ambiguous situations.
- Communicate confidently to a wide audience.
- Be open‑minded and adaptable.
- Show drive and initiative.
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative fields.
- 2‑5 years in an Actuarial or Analytics department.
- Aviation experience.
- 4+ cancelling actuarial exams completed.
- Statistical methods, calculus, and probability.
- Current and emerging policies, practices, trends, technology, and information that affect the industry.
- Proficiency with SAS, R, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Basic to moderately complex actuarial techniques.
The salary above will be decided based on role complexity, location, and candidate background. Employees are eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if their expectations fall outside the range.
