The senior associate will represent our Finance Corporate Advisory function and lead client engagements, delivering high‑quality strategic finance guidance to founders and CEOs.

Base Pay Range: $/yr – $/yr

THE ROLE

This is a high‑visibility role where you will collaborate with founders and early‑stage or growth‑stage company management to provide strategic guidance and operational leadership. You will function as the VP of Finance or CFO, instrumental to the financial and operational leadership within these companies.

ABOUT EXBO GROUP

Exbo Group is a team of investment bankers, consultants, and accountants that grew out of a $400M New York based venture capital fund. We provide high‑touch accounting, finance advisory, and transaction services support to growth‑stage companies and middle‑market financial sponsors nationwide from our New York headquarters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work directly with CEOs and founders to build and manage all aspects of the finance department.
  • Provide high‑quality output for startups’ strategic finance needs (cash management support, budgeting & forecasting, metrics tracking, investor relations and growth support).
  • Manage the build‑out and refinement of full‑scale financial models that drive client financial decision‑making.
  • Answer ad‑hoc requests that provide insight around product‑market fit, scalability, growth, fundraising, and unit economics.
  • Assess and advise on financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting while crafting detailed manuals and process documentation.
  • Oversee, review, and dive deep into the accounting close, understanding key journal entries around balance sheet accruals, prepaids, deferred revenue, and monthly payroll entries.
  • Spearhead the onboarding process for new clients, serving as a continuous source of guidance and support throughout the entirety of their journey with Exbo Group.
  • Utilize project management software to orchestrate interconnected initiatives, ensuring client progression such as transitioning operations to platforms like Net Suite.
  • As client portfolio expands, bring on junior analysts to delegate operational tasks and focus on high‑level strategic advisory.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, financial analysis, progressive finance and strategy, or another highly analytical role.
  • Past experience includes a combination of finance and accounting roles (e.g., early growth startup, public accounting, internal finance function, strategic growth).
  • Excellent executive presence and ability to present key concepts in front of clients succinctly and with confidence.
  • Ability to promptly build trust with team members, cross‑functional groups, and entrepreneurs.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify suboptimal internal processes.
  • Proficient in GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize, multitask and deal with ambiguity.
  • Enjoy working with and advising a diverse group of startup companies.
  • CPA preferred.
WORK MODEL

This is a full‑time position that starts immediately. We maintain a hybrid and flexible model that balances remote work with in‑person collaboration from our New York City office.
