The Senior Director, Finance and Facilities ensures alignment between the organization's financial strategy and the needs of the organization and NPA’s strategic plan. Manages financial functions and the organization’s office operational infrastructure; and supports others; manages certain components of the membership database; ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures and regulations/standards imposed by outside entities; and serves as a liaison to the finance and audit committees, and operational consultants/vendors.
PositionResponsibilities
- Lead financial, budgeting and accounting functions of the organization and ensure accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Develop, manage and utilize financial forecasting model for planning and implementing future projects and management of organization growth.
- Manage two full‑time staff members with highly collaborative approach to support the success of the functional area.
- Oversee association’s financial position and cash flow.
- Manage the investments of the association and act as the liaison with the investment advisor.
- Responsible for the planning and completion of the annual audit and related annual tax returns.
- Establish and manage internal financial controls.
- Manage financial tracking and reporting functions for grants.
- Prepare timely and detailed reports on the organization’s financial performance, including monthly financials.
- Act as a resource and cross‑functional collaborator with other staff, providing financial and budget guidance, including direction on procurement of services with vendors and consultants, business planning and financial tracking.
- Manage financial components of the iMIS membership database and related functionalities, including invoicing for dues payments and other iMIS related transactions.
- Manage financial aspects of registration for conferences.
- Responsible for management of organization’s financial IT system, Sage Intacct.
- Develop, maintain and update as needed Finance policies and procedures.
- Manage and maintain organization’s insurance policies.
- Ensure organizational compliance with federal and state regulations, internal governance and operational policies/procedures, and requirements imposed by other entities.
- Responsible for filing required lobbying reports.
- Serve as a liaison and staff lead to the Audit Committee and Finance Committee, and operational consultants and vendors.
- Manage the operational infrastructure of the NPA offices and serve as the liaison with landlord.
- Prepares high level presentations to communicate financial information to non‑financial.
- Leads the Financial and Facilities Team to ensure operational efficiency of NPA’s facilities including conference rooms, kitchen, offices, filing, storage, and supplies.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of non‑profit finance, accounting, and budgeting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Skilled in automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports and statements, and provide strategic counsel to leadership on financial matters.
- Ability to research, synthesize and disseminate information regarding state, federal and other requirements that the organization must comply with.
- Ability to create standardized operational procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- High degree of integrity and trust.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills.
Small, fast paced team office environment with moderate noise levels. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment. Use of computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Ability to travel locally and to other cities for meetings and conferences.
