What You Will Do

• Primary contact for senior business leaders to provide financial management support within timelines. Accountable for recommending and implementing continuous improvements.

• Manage a team responsible for handling the reporting of budgets, actuals and forecasting for assigned SVP and VP groups including management of Operation and Maintenance costs to meet established expectations and targets;

• Responsible for variance analysis on actual spending, providing insight on business drivers, supporting forecast activities, mitigation strategies, and to advise management decisions.

• Accountable for reporting on financials relating to Budgets, Forecasts and Actuals including mitigation strategies to attain financial targets and present to senior leadership.

• Connect with SVPs, VPs and Directors to build knowledge of their functional areas to gain insight that will provide active financial support and counsel to the business.

• Responsible for team’s production of monthly reporting to SVP and VPs on financial information relating to Budgets, Forecasts, and Actuals with recommended mitigation strategies.

• Responsible for messaging that supports continuity of annual budgets.

• Formulate recommendations for SVP and VPs to achieve financial targets.

• Review financial processes and reporting to implement efficiencies.

• Demonstrate operational improvement and efficiency opportunities including using system capabilities.

• Development of the team with a focus on performance to enable objectives.

Who You Are

• Finance professional with related designation such as CMA, CA, CPA, CGA, CFA or MBA preferred

• 7+ years progressive experience with business performance analytics related roles

• Experience advising a team of analysts focusing on prioritizing work schedules and operational improvements to optimize work

• Understanding of public accounting, tax and corporate finance

• Analytical with outstanding financial modelling skills

• Ability to communicate recommendations to internal groups and budget owners with business context

• Proficiency in communications and influencing skills

• Proven initiative in developing and implementing innovative ways that have operational and financial benefits

• Familiarity and experience with the regulatory process including preparation of supporting evidence.

• Reasonable degree of understanding with operational aspects of Gas Distribution System's business to understand the business context around the financial management being provided is considered an asset.
