RemoteWork Option
This position may provide the ability to work remotely up to 6 days per 2‑week pay period. An approved remote work agreement is required before an employee may work remotely. Approval of the agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who work remotely are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position SummaryUnder general supervision of the Program and Policy Chief (PPC), this paraprofessional position performs specialized fiscal, administrative, and programmatic duties in an office‑based setting to support the Division of Food and Recreational Safety. The position’s financial work requires the use of many different funding sources including General Program Revenue (GPR), Federal Funds (FED), and Program Revenue (PR).
Financial Specialist Position Description• Develop and maintain budgets for departmental programs.
• Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and identify and recommend options to resolve budget issues.
• Prepare monthly statements and reports using Microsoft Office and database tools.
• Provide customer service and coordination activities within a financial setting, gathering and tracking information, meeting deadlines, and problem‑solving.
• Utilize State Transforming Agency Resources (STAR/People Soft) or equivalent financial modules (Reporting Tools, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Travel & Expenses).
• Work with multiple funding sources (PR, GPR, FED) and related travel, expense, purchasing, and regulatory requirements.
The classification for this position is Financial Specialist Senior, schedule‑range 02‑13, with a starting pay of $26.08 per hour. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12‑month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.
Job DetailsAt DATCP, we provide on‑the‑job training opportunities, direct experience, peer mentoring, and standard operating procedures. Employees have access to low‑cost parking at Prairie Oaks State Office Building, located in Madison’s southeast side, and are near major highways.
Conditions of EmploymentDATCP does not sponsor work visas; the applicant must provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States. A criminal background check will be performed prior to an offer. The position requires the ability to work in various positions (e.g., standing, bending, squatting), lift up to 40 lbs., and walk and stand for up to four hours a day.
Qualifications- Experience performing financial duties and bookkeeping (budgeting, account reconciliations, journal entries, problem‑solving).
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, database entry, monthly statements and reports).
- Experience providing customer service or coordination activities in a financial setting (information tracking, deadline management, problem‑solving).
