Group Accountant

Reporting to the Group Head of Consolidation & Reporting, the Group Accountant will work closely with the Group Consolidation & Reporting Manager and the Group Analyst to ensure the accuracy and integrity of TM1 (IBM financial consolidation system). TM1 plays a key governance & financial reporting role as the Group’s financial consolidation system used by over 200 individual reporting entities within the Spirax Group.

The role supports the team’s maintenance, configuration and strategic development of TM1.

The Group’s recent high‑growth track record, combined with increasing demands of external governance, reporting and disclosure requirements, makes this a crucial position within Group Finance. The role will be responsible for triaging support requests from the Group operating companies, assisting with correcting errors, easing the submission process burden and ensuring all reporting is as accurate and reliable as possible to meet the Groups reporting deadlines.

The candidate will get exposure to the local finance teams within the Group operating businesses and the wider Group Finance functions while creating additional reporting for the Tax, Treasury and Statutory teams.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with the Group’s local finance teams in all operating businesses to ensure accuracy of financial reporting submissions, both Actuals and Plans / Forecasts.

  • Gain a broad understanding of the Group reports and finance function.
  • Design and develop new and innovative ways of checking the accuracy of data submitted from multiple sources.
  • Help develop the consolidation system within the Group Finance team to facilitate automation of all required Group Financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the Group Finance team to resolve reporting issues, correct submission mistakes, and provide support in the use of the TM1 suite of tools.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve existing reports and processes to align with business requirements and help the team embed these changes into the consolidation system and reporting.
  • Support maintenance of TM1 to keep the system in line with changing reporting and administrative requirements.
  • Provide expertise and training to users to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the data gathering and reporting processes.
  • Write bespoke reports and dashboards for TM1 Finance.
  • Work remotely with the role location split between the Group Head Office in Cheltenham and home/remote working.
